Focus on Child Sexual Abuse - policy/tools/support & a survivors story (FF)

Date & Time:

Wednesday 25 September 2024 (10:00 - 16:00)

Venue:

DCBL Stadium Widnes,

Detail:

Far more children are being sexually abused than are currently coming to the attention of professionals. A lot is known about child sexual abuse and progress has been made in addressing the needs of children and their families,  but there remains many gaps in knowledge and understanding which limit how effectively this is tackled.

The Child Safegurding Practice Review Panel, whose role is to oversee and draw national lessons from serious cases, has commissioned the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) to lead on a review (National Review by the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel into Child Sexual Abuse Within the Family Environment). We expect the Review to be published in summer 2024.

Halton are currently reviewing their Multi-agency CSA Strategy and & guidance and this special event will focus on;

  • An update on the National Panel Review into child sexual abuse within the family environment.
  • Halton’s new Multi Agency Child Sexual Abuse Strategy & Guidance
  • Introducing the CSA Response Pathway from the Centre of Expertise
  • CSA – A survivors story
  • CSA - A Social Worker reflection of a local case
  • An introduction to ERASE, a guidance for Harmful Sexual Behaviours.
  • Mini workshops on ERASE, Communicating with Children Guide & Signs & indicator template
