Detail:
Nationally, there were 14,352 children and young people (aged 17 and under) in alcohol and drug treatment between April 2023 and March 2024. This is a 16% increase from the previous year .
There was also a rise in the number reporting problems with ketamine, from 4.5% in 2021 to 2022 to 8.4% this year, which means more children & young people reported problems with ketamine than with cocaine for the first time. (Gov.uk 28.11.2024).
In Halton, we are holding a Multi-Agency Drug & Alcohol Event on both the 21st January & 3rd July 2025.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of ketamine use and other drug trends, the confidence to spot warning signs, and a clear action plan for accessing support and working collaboratively to safeguard young people.
